223rd ACS meeting in Orlando, FL
| As a regular participant at the international meetings of the American Chemical Society, the Thieme Chemistry team also exhibited on the occasion of the 223rd ACS meeting that was held April 8-10 in the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. As well as our complete program in print, we were mainly showcasing our soon to be released electronic versions of Science of Synthesis and HOUBEN-WEYL. Not shown on the photo is the fact that the ACS mascot left our booth with one of our famous Science of Synthesis baseball caps on his beaver head!

Lots of people took the chance to have a first look at the electronic version of Science of Synthesis, a fully (sub-)structure searchable reference work, designed to become your first point of reference when searching for a synthesis strategy in the 21st Century. It beats other databases especially in delivering not only references but complete practical methods that can be used right away in the lab! Thus Science of Synthesis speeds up your daily work tremendously in not sending you to the library, but to the bench!
| Another highlight of this year's exhibition was the alpha version of the electronic HOUBEN-WEYL. To ease the access to nearly 100 years of synthetic methodology compiled in 160 volumes of HOUBEN-WEYL, we converted the complete series into pdf files, developed an interactive table of contents module, and created an invaluable electronic tool that delivers your synthetic method of choice in an instant to your desktop. We are looking forward to the release of the first part, the E-Series, in June this year. |
Next to the scientific attractions, we were also able to gain attention by raffling an exclusive kite. On Wednesday we drew the lottery and out of more than 200 participants, the lucky winners were Mr. and Mrs. Taylor from Kent, Ohio. Don't miss a visit to our booth at one of the upcoming conferences, as new surprises will be waiting for you - at least from the scientific point of view!
We have more photos (ordered chronologically) for you!
If you missed us this time, or if you are interested in testing our new electronic products yourself, make sure to take
a look at our conference list.
We are looking forward to meeting you!
