The new updated version includes information from four more volumes:
Volume 6, Volume 15, Volume 19 and Volume 26 (Click on the Volume Tab in the Header to get more information about these volumes). With the inclusion of Volume 15, Category 2: Hetarenes (Volumes 9–17) has become the first category in the Science of Synthesis series to be completed.

The new updated version of the product has now expanded encompassing the content of two further volumes:
Volume 7 and Volume 27 (Click on the Volume Tab in the Header to get more information about these volumes). Volume 27 is the first Volume to be published in Category 4 of Science of Synthesis, Compounds with Two Carbon–Heteroatom Bonds, dealing with Heteroatom Analogues of Aldehydes and Ketones.
The text search logic has been amended to discriminate between multiple word searching and searching for phrases by the use of quotation marks ("). A search for "allyl cation", for example, yields only hit documents, with the expression allyl cation in the text, while searching for allyl cation (without quotation marks) brings up an additional 25 documents where both terms (allyl and cation) are found, but have no logical connection.
With the addition of the index volumes E23 a to p to the Electronic Backfile, every volume ever published in the Houben-Weyl series is now available in electronic format. Browsing between Science of Synthesis and Houben-Weyl is unrestricted and furthermore searching in Science of Synthesis also provides the relevant links to the Backfile.

Science of Synthesis is now almost seamlessly linked to the Houben-Weyl series which appears as the Electronic Backfile. Browsing between the two is unrestricted and furthermore searching in Science of Synthesis also provides the relevant links to the Backfile.
The interface of Science of Synthesis has been developed and improved to make finding the relevant information as straightforward as possible. The interface is designed to be intuitive and logical, permitting fast and effective information retrieval. The new tab system allows the user to have the Document View, Advanced Search, Search Result, Search History, and Volume Info pages simultaneously open and permits browsing between them.
The Advanced Search Interface has been expanded to include the structure query window, displaying at all times the structure being searched. Structure searching and the extensive combination of text searches can be carried out both together and independently.
Science of Synthesis now incorporates the CrossRef service.
