Science of Synthesis is an entirely web-based product, which does not require the installation of specialized software on your computer.

Popup blocker must be deactivated to use Science of Synthesis. Please download a brief instruction how to deactivate pop-up blockers or contact your IT support if you require further assistance.

Structure searching is possible using the built in Java Applet. Science of Synthesis also supports two commercial chemical drawing packages, ISIS/Draw or ChemDraw 9.0.1 and 10.0. If you wish to use ISIS/Draw for the (sub-) structure search module, the local installation of a client plugin is required, see below for full details.

 

STEP 1: Confirm that your system meets the following requirements.

 

System Requirements :
  • PC (Windows NT 4.0 / 95 / 98 / 2000 / XP) or MAC (MAC OS X) with Internet connection.
  • on PC's: Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 and above, Firefox 1.5 and above.
  • on MAC's: Safari 2.0 and above.
  • Popup blocker must be deactivated to use Science of Synthesis. Please download a brief instruction how to deactivate pop-up blockers or contact your IT support if you require further assistance.
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 or higher (required for the Electronic Backfile only; software can be downloaded free of charge from the Adobe website www.adobe.com)

    STEP 2: Confirm that you have one of the following chemical drawing packages installed on your computer.

     

    Software :

    Java Applet:
    Provided your system allows java to operate you can use the in-built Java Applet to carry out structure searching.

    Commercial chemical drawing packages:

    ChemDraw:
    Science of Synthesis supports ChemDraw 9.0.1 and 10.0 available from CambridgeSoft (www.cambridgesoft.com). No additional software is required. Please carefully review the ChemDraw Compatability Chart to ensure that you are using a ChemDraw version compatible with your system configuration: www.cambridgesoft.com/services/compat.cfm

    ISIS/Draw:
    ISIS/Draw 2.5 is available from www.mdli.com. Download the no-fee version of ISIS/Draw 2.5 after registering on site (for academic and personal use only) or purchase ISIS/Draw 2.5 (commercial and corporate users). After installation restart your computer!

     

    STEP 3: To use ISIS/Draw download our client plugin.

     

     

    To use ISIS/Draw you must download and install our client plugin: icclient_setup.zip

    ISIS/Draw must be installed before the client plugin, as the plugin requires to be saved in the ISIS/Draw folder.
