This volume is devoted to the synthesis of organic compounds containing the peroxide (O-O) functional group. It does not describe the synthesis of peroxy acids and derivatives, which are discussed in Science of Synthesis, Vol. 20b [Three Carbon-Heteroatom Bonds: Esters and Lactones; Peroxy Acids and R(CO)X, X = S, Se, Te (Section 20.7)]. The synthesis of peroxidic compounds in general has been previously covered in Houben–Weyl, Vol. E 13 and also in Vol. 8, pp 1–74.
